The Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) was established in 2013 to employ 50,000 plus graduate youths across the country and ensure that their skills are developed towards empowering them to be employable in the short/medium/long term. GIS is aimed at providing Nigerian Graduates with quality temporary work experience that will make them stronger candidates for job openings in the labor market through the one-year internship placement.
Against this backdrop, GIS organizes a three-day Career Development and Entrepreneurship Training for Graduate Interns to sharpen their skills and improve their competitiveness in the dynamic labor market. Our CEO, Topsie Olatilewa E. trained some of 2016 GIS participants the following Entrepreneurship topics below among the vast list of topics from the GIS curriculum in conjunction with Supreme Management.
- DEFINING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
- BASIC BUSINESS PLANNING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT TOOLS FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT: MONITORING SUPPORT
- SOURCES OF FUNDING FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE BUSINESSES
She made a case for Entrepreneurship, administers relevant exercises and case studies, and provides participants with a list of reliable sources of funding (financing) organizations. Provide participants with the know-how of accessing funding, and moderate questions and answers session.
Her overview of the training program was “Nigeria graduates are dynamic; you could see the eagerness and willingness of them wanting to learn more to better their situations. They have what it takes, if only they can access to various opportunities both local and global to help unleash their potentials”. She will be looking forward to training another batch of 2017 GIS training next year.
